Skellig Michael. Built in 588AD, this medieval monastary on a steep rocky island off the coast of county Kerry Ireland is one of the most famous yet least accessable ancient religious sites.  Surviving a Viking raid in 823AD and later being expanded, its remoteness and majestic location give it a timeless and deeply atmospheric mystique. Abandoned in1100AD, this place continues to fascinate and inspire its visitors to this day.
This is the music that came to me as I pondered its history and distant past.
